In 2018, Anderson + Bohlander was selected as the lead planner for LISC's Great Places 2020 effort for the Englewood on the near-east side of Indianapolis. The effort is part of a broad program to create more walkable, urban village locations with the City, with a focused effort of investment and development in advance of the City's bicentennial in 2020. The plan was comprehensive in scope, with strategies for housing, safety, education, recreation, active public spaces and mixed-use developments. The planning team worked with staff at LISC, a local community advisory committee, and a group of city-wide stakeholders throughout the process. Anderson + Bohlander worked with Greenstreet Ltd. to develop market analysis data with assistance from Blackline Studio to understand building footprints and scale. The planning effort included high-level community engagement to balance community desires and concerns with the practical input of the design team and industry experts. The culmination of the plan concludes with a series of renderings and diagrams that seek to capture the physical goals of future development as it relates to neighborhood housing, public space and infrastructure, and education. The plan for Englewood Village is to concentrate development efforts around the historic PR Mallory Building and to create a new "quad" that can offer programmed public space at the heart of the neighborhood.
