After relocating services to the new Parkview Regional Medical Center in the northern suburbs of Fort Wayne, the future of Parkview’s former flagship location in the downtown neighborhoods, known as Parkview Randallia, was uncertain. As a gesture of commitment to the downtown community, the Board of Directors decided to develop a transformative plan that would portray "hope and confidence" within the community, as well as attract potential development partners for a new future for the Randallia Campus. As a result of their work on the Campus Future Uses Plan, Anderson + Bohlander was selected to lead the design effort to create a new main entry experience for visitors and staff. The design concept centers on opening up new views to the nearby roadway intersection and the development of a new patient and visitor drop-off experience with expanded vehicle capacities and increased canopy coverage for protection from the elements. An existing outdoor pocket garden adjacent to the main entry was re-imagined to serve as an outdoor extension of the lobby and waiting area with expanded areas for individuals or groups to gather. Visitors to the garden are able to enjoy a quiet conversation with friends and family in a supportive environment, or sit and enjoy the sounds of the natural water feature
