In 2014, Milhaus Development closed on a stretch of undeveloped land in Memphis, Tennessee near the University of Memphis campus. In conjunction with Poag and McEwan Lifestyle Center Management, a regional team of design consultants were assembled including Wakefield Beaseley and Associates, SR Consulting, and Anderson + Bohlander. The development would include three mixed-use buildings with 350 apartment units, 32,000 sq ft of retail space and a 500+ space parking structure, unlike any other developments in the area. Anderon + Bohlander provided lead design services for the site layout and landscape improvements and the architectural design allowed for two large interior courtyards totaling over 35,000 sq ft of private amenity space for the residents. Purposefully designed to serve two different program goals, the southern courtyard incorporated a 2,200 sq ft swimming pool, outdoor bar, grill stations and a fire pit for more active users. The northern courtyard would serve as more of passive retreat with a large open lawn for flexible use, and a series of small water features and casual seating areas
